Rana Plaza Day
On April 24, 2013, the eight-storeyed Rana Plaza building in Savar collapsed killing at least 1,134 people, mostly women, and injuring thousands of others. Since then BLF observe the day with demand to achieve safe workplaces and workers rights on the job.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work – 28 April
BLF marks the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on the 28th of April every year to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases in Bangladesh. Through this awareness-raising campaign BLF intend to focus stakeholders attention on emerging trends in the field of occupational safety and health and on the magnitude of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities.

International Workers Day – May Day
The historic May Day observe by BLF in different areas of the country like elsewhere across the world through various programmes with a pledge to establish the rights of workers. BLF along with different trade unions and workers’ organisations organised elaborate programmes, including discussions, rallies to observe the day and press for improving the working conditions with better wages and security for the workers.

Local RMG Employers and employer’s associations seminar on Decent Work
BLF will organise a National Seminar with the employers and employers associations of local RMG industries to improve their awareness on Decent Work and implementation strategy in the workplace. Representatives from different areas across the country will join in the program and share their views

Dialogue with Tannery stakeholders on Minimum Wages and Social Security
BLF is working with Tannery stakeholders to ensure the compliance of the industry to compete in the global market. As part of our work, we will organise this national dialogue to seek the status of implementation of minimum wage and social security status of the workers by which the employers can achieve the global landmark of tannery standards to secure the audit certificate of Leather Working Group.
