Round table discussion on recognition of Local RMG
The local market Readymade Garment Industry in Bangladesh made a silent revolution apart from export oriented RMG. Three decades ago Keraniganj was a mini-market of various garments products but now it has become a local readymade garments (RMG) hub. The apparel hub produces denims and woven items, which meet around 80 percent of the demand for such products in the local market. As per the employers associations, the industry is now accounted for BDT 3,000-5,000 crore a year. But unfortunately, this industry has not been recognised as a industry thus proper growth of the industry could not be recognised.BLF is going to organise this Round table discussion on improving working conditions for better workplace and recognition of Local RMG with the relevant stakeholders and government wings to create an action plan for the industry as a whole.

A Private Public Dialogue (PPD) with key stakeholders will be organised for improvement and implementation of legal & policy compliance at National level. The objective of the PPD will be to address the current challenges of Law and Policy regards to the workers and how it can further benefit the workers and ensure the SDG Target within the time range.

International Mother Language Day 2021
Bangladesh Labour Foundation will observe the International Mother Language Day 2021 through different programs. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity all across the world. Inspired by the initiative of Bangladesh, the day was declared at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been celebrated all through the world since 2000.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birthday 2021
The father of the nation of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birthday is a national holiday in Bangladesh which is observed on March 17th each year. Bangladesh Labour Foundation will celebrate this day through different activities in 2021. The Bangladesh government has announced that the 100th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be observed as Mujib Year from March 17th, 2020 to March 17th, 2021. This holiday may also be known as ‘Father of the Nation’s birth anniversary’.
